生地
Our clothes making begins with thinking about fabrics.
We do not choose fabrics from those readily available in the market, but rather face them ourselves, give them some thought, and design them.
Sometimes, to try to achieve the military uniform-like texture, we attempt the traditional dyeing method called "nakashiro" which just like rope dyeing, does not dye the core of the thread. Also, for better comfort we use organic cotton. Like this, we are working to create new fabrics that combine the uniqueness and high quality of F.O.B.

市場に出回る生地から選ぶのではなく、自ら生地と向き合い、考え、そしてデザインをしています。
時には軍服の風合いを目指し、糸の芯を染めない昔ながらの染め方、"中白染め"に挑戦したり、より良い着心地のためオーガニックコットンを使用するなど、F.O.Bの独自性と高品質を兼ね備えた新しい生地作りに取り組んでいます。

Sewing machines are an essential part of clothes making.
We use the knowledge and skills we have cultivated over 25 years to research and develop sewing machines together with our craftsmen.
We modify old U.S.-made sewing machines that we ourselves brought in, and reproduce the details of the good old days.
This is something that is only made possible by F.O.B FACTORY and is not achievable through mass production.

私たちは創業から25年以上の間培ってきた知識と技術を活かし、職人たちと共にミシンの研究・開発を行っています。
自ら持ち込んだアメリカ製の古いミシンに改造を加え、昔ながらのディテールを再現しています。
大量生産では不可能な、F.O.B FACTORYだからこそできることが、そこにはあるのです。

The vintage and washed-out look that characterizes F.O.B is entirely achieved through manual processing.
We work hand in hand with a factory in the Okayama region that offers state-of-the-art processing, and discuss with their craftsmen until we reach the ideal finish, completing our products through repeated prototyping.
F.O.Bの特徴でもある、古着や洗いざらしの風合いはすべて手作業での加工によるものです。

How Studio Ecru Began
The forerunner of Studio Ecru Inc. was primarily in the OEM business and was not a manufacturer. Kojima in Okayama where our head office is located, is one of the leading textile production regions in Japan, and is blessed with sewing factories, processing factories, and machine shops in close proximity to each other, making it a great area to produce clothes. We therefore received numerous requests from customers and strengthened our quality, technical capabilities, and responsiveness. Regrettably however, the company had to disband, and Studio Ecru Inc. was thus started by five volunteers, transforming from an OEM business into a manufacturer. Our brand name reflects our thoughts of "transmitting from the factory" together with the professionals of sewing factories, processing factories, and machine shops around us.
株式会社スタジオ・エクリュの前身の会社はOEM事業を主体としており、メーカーではありませんでした。本社のある岡山県児島は日本有数の繊維産地で、縫製工場・加工場・機屋が隣接し、洋服の製造に恵まれた地域です。そのため、お客様から数多くのリクエストをいただき、品質・技術力・対応力を強化していきました。しかし、惜しくも会社を解散することとなり、有志5人ではじめたのが株式会社スタジオ・エクリュです。OEMからメーカーへと一転、F.O.B FACTORYは始まりました。ブランド名には、周りの縫製工場・加工場・機屋のプロたちと共に”工場から発信する”という想いが込められています。

Completion of "JEANS FLAGSHIP MODEL F151"
In June 2005, F.O.B FACTORY completed "JEANS FLAGSHIP MODEL F151," which became an endlessly popular model. While chinos and cargo pants were increasing sales at the time, we decided to pursue the entire process to reexamine denim, the pillar and the origin of F.O.B FACTORY.
F151 was completed after repeated trial-and-error involving frequent visits to the factory and extensive discussions with the craftsmen.
The denim is made of the raw cotton Supima cotton, and the number of threads is increased to the maximum to make it an extremely tough material. Still, the softness of the raw cotton makes it a denim that conforms to the wearer's body.

2005年6月、F.O.B FACTORY不動のモデルとなった「JEANS FLAG SHIP MODEL F151」が完成。当時はチノパンやカーゴパンツが売り上げを伸ばしていた中、F.O.B FACTORYの柱であり原点であるデニムを見直すため、全ての工程を追求することを決意しました。
工場へ足繁く通い、職人と対話を重ね、試行錯誤を繰り返し完成したのがF151です。
スーピマコットンを原綿とし、極限まで糸本数を増やすことで非常にタフな素材ながら、原綿の持つしなやかさで、履く人の体に馴染むデニムです。

F.O.B FACTORY's first overseas exhibition
Since we have started to receive more and more DMs from overseas end users wanting to "see our products in person" and "purchase them," we began active involvement in overseas business transactions. It was at that time when we found out that "SELVEDGE RUN," an exhibition for European denimheads, was to be held in Berlin, so we decided to participate in the event.
We received rave reviews and sympathetic comments for the fabrics that we had carefully selected through repeated trial and error. This has led to F.O.B FACTORY's current confidence in our manufacturing.
海外のエンドユーザーから「実際に商品を見たい」、「購入したい」というDMを頂くことが増え、海外での取引に積極的に取り組むようになりました。そんな時、ベルリンでヨーロッパのデニムヘッズが集まる展示会『SELVEDGE RUN』が開催されることを知り、出展を決意。
私たちが試行錯誤を重ね、こだわり抜いた生地へ絶賛と共感の声をいただきました。それが今のF.O.B FACTORYのモノづくりの自信と繋がっています。

We produce threads using carefully selected raw cotton such as American San Joaquin Valley cotton, Supima cotton, etc., to suit each item.
アメリカ産サンフォーキン綿を初め、スーピマコットンなど、アイテムに合わせ厳選した原綿を使用し糸を製造します。

Dyeing
染色
To dye our original denim, we bind together multiple strands of cotton threads in a rope-like shape, dip them in indigo dyes, and then expose them to air. These steps are repeated more times compared to the usual method to oxidize the threads and gradually dye them blue.
The work and military fabrics are dyed with a slen dye, which is rarely used in the modern days, to complete the outstanding aged look.オリジナルデニムは何本もの綿糸をロープ状に束ね、インディゴ染料液に浸しては空気に触れさせる工程を通常より多く繰り返すことで酸化させ、徐々に藍く染めていきます。
ワークやミリタリーの生地に関しては現代では殆ど使用されないスレン染料で染める事で抜群の経年変化の表情が完成します。 -

Weaving
織布
The weft threads are pounded into the glued warp threads and woven into cloth.
糊付けしたタテ糸にヨコ糸を打ち込み、布に織り上げていく工程です。

Cutting
裁断
Patterns are placed on the woven denim fabric and the parts are cut out according to the shape.
織り上げたデニム生地へパターンと呼ばれる型を配置し、それに沿ってパーツを切り出す工程です。

Manufacturing
縫製
Each part that is finished being cut is sewn together.
F.O.B FACTORY's products are carefully sewn one by one by our master seamstresses.裁断を終えた各パーツを縫い上げる工程です。

Processing
加工
We team up with one of the best processing factories in Japan for washing and weathering processes to take great care to give the garments a worn-in look from the start.
Most of F.O.B FACTORY's products go through a one-wash process.国内屈指の加工場と手を組み、水洗いやUSED加工を行うことで、最初からこなれた雰囲気を味わえるよう工夫しています。F.O.B FACTORYの製品のほとんどが一度洗い加工を行っています。
